Case Study: Strategic Collaborations for Innovation and women Empowerment

Tech Mahindra and Marshall Group Partnership:

Driving Innovation in Aerospace and Defense Tech Mahindra (NSE: TECHM), a global leader in technology consulting and digital solutions, has announced a strategic partnership with the Marshall Group, a renowned engineering services provider specializing in the aerospace and defense sectors. This collaboration, formalized through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), aims to leverage the combined strengths of both companies to drive innovation, operational efficiency, and sustainability within the aerospace and defense industries.

Under this partnership, Tech Mahindra will support Marshall’s engineering programs in aircraft design, manufacturing, special mission platforms, and the development of digital maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) technologies. Meanwhile, Marshall will utilize Tech Mahindra's expertise in data analytics and intelligent field support technologies to enhance the efficiency and reliability of its infrastructure solutions. A significant focus of this collaboration will be on developing advanced hydrogen fuel systems, which are set to replace fossil fuels in aviation, thereby promoting sustainability and reducing carbon footprints.

Narasimham RV, President of Engineering Services at Tech Mahindra, emphasized the importance of this collaboration, stating, “The aerospace and defense engineering sector faces significant challenges, including the need to drive productivity gains and sustainable technology advancements. Combining Tech Mahindra’s global engineering and technology capabilities with Marshall’s rich heritage and specialized knowledge, we are poised to create a powerful collaboration to drive innovation, deliver exceptional customer value, and enable the industry to scale at speed.”

The partnership between Tech Mahindra and Marshall Group is poised to redefine the future of aerospace engineering, as both organizations bring decades of expertise to the table. With Tech Mahindra’s deep-rooted experience in aerostructures, electrical and mechanical engineering, airworthiness, and stress test engineering, and Marshall's long-standing heritage in providing mission-critical support to global armed forces and aircraft manufacturers, this alliance promises to foster growth and innovation in the aerospace market.

Gareth Williams, Chief Operating Officer of Marshall, expressed enthusiasm about the partnership, highlighting the complementary strengths of the two organizations. “We are excited to take this major step forward with Tech Mahindra. As two family-founded businesses with a global presence and a shared commitment to providing critical support to our customers, we have much in common – but we also possess distinct and mutually complementary strengths. There is ample scope for Tech Mahindra to support Marshall’s ongoing programs, and their global reach and expertise will undoubtedly unlock new use cases and markets where we have not yet established a presence.”

Tech Mahindra’s legacy in the aerospace industry spans nearly three decades, during which it has provided innovative solutions to original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) and the aftermarket, delivering substantial cost savings and productivity gains for over 300 clients worldwide. With its vast network of onshore and offshore service centers staffed by qualified engineers, Tech Mahindra is well-positioned to expand its footprint further in the aerospace sector through this partnership with Marshall.

Mahindra & Mahindra and MSDE Partnership: Empowering Women through Drone Technology Training

In another significant development, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd., India’s leading farm equipment manufacturer, has signed an MoU with the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE) under the Drone Didi Yojna. This initiative, launched earlier this year, aims to train 15,000 women to operate drones for agricultural purposes, such as fertilizer application, crop monitoring, and seed sowing. The collaboration seeks to create new livelihood opportunities for women by imparting skills in cutting-edge technology areas.

The partnership will begin with two pilot programs at National Skill Training Institutes (NSTIs) in Hyderabad and Noida, where 500 women will be trained in exclusive batches. The 15-day curriculum, approved by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation, will be delivered by RPTO (Remote Pilot Training Organisation) instructors at these centers. Dr. Anish Shah, Group CEO & MD of Mahindra Group, remarked, “Aligned with our Rise philosophy, the Mahindra Group is committed to empowering women with the skills necessary to join the workforce and achieve financial independence. The pilot under the Drone Didi Yojana represents a first-of-its-kind convergence of women, farming, and technology.”

Shri Atul Kumar Tiwari, Secretary of MSDE, added, “This collaboration advances our mission of upskilling women for nation-building, particularly through the successful implementation of the Drone Didi program in empowering women in emerging trades. I firmly believe that this collaboration with Mahindra will advance our vision, equipping women with the skills needed to contribute to nation-building.” As part of the agreement, NSTIs will provide the necessary infrastructure for training, while Mahindra Group will supply initial setup support, and simulation machinery, and cover operating costs, including DGCA license-holder instructors.

This partnership represents a significant step forward in empowering rural women with skills in drone technology, contributing to their socio-economic growth and independence.
